South Jeffco Sports Association (SJSA) provides youth softball for female athletes living in the Chatfield, Columbine, and Dakota Ridge High School areas. SJSA is a part of the Girls Softball League of Jefferson County (GSLJC). League games are played against other areas including Alameda, Arvada, Bear Creek, Golden, Lakewood, West Jefferson and Wheat Ridge. Presently South Jeffco is fielding approximately 22 teams and over 250 girls are in the program.
SJSA provides recreational and competitive softball for players between 4 and 18 years old (eligible if turn 19 on or after January 1st of the current year). We offer recreational T-ball and Coach Pitch leagues between the ages of 4 and 7 years old. The recreational option continues for ages 4 to 18. Leagues are formed for 8 yrs, 9 yrs, 10 yrs, 11 yrs, 12 yrs, 13 yrs, 14-15 yrs, and 16 yrs and up; with teams playing at different division levels. The divisions are evaluated each year to balance the level of play across the division. The recreational leagues only play on week nights, with the exception of one (optional) league tournament played on a weekend. Some recreational teams participate in weekend tournaments outside of the GSLJC.
The competitive option has 10 yrs and under, 12 yrs and under, 14 yrs and under, and 16 yrs and under leagues. These teams are set up individually and each team holds it’s own tryouts and determines their own rosters. The competitive teams play in league play during the week, but also enter several weekend tournaments throughout the year.
